Bunnings Warehouse Plans Store In Dunedin
Leading hardware chain Bunnings has announced its plans for a new Bunnings Warehouse in Dunedin.
Bunnings has purchased 2.3 hectares of land in South Dunedin from Dunedin City Council. The site has frontage to Strathallan Street, Orari Street and Otaki Street, and is currently occupied by New Zealand Wool Handlers.
The new Bunnings Warehouse will have an area in excess of 12,000 square metres including a hardware store with a covered trade yard plus garden centre. Parking will be provided for 250 cars.
The store will carry more than 45,000 product lines across a wide range of home improvement categories and will bring new levels of service to the Dunedin area. Bunnings New Zealand General Manager Brad Cranston says the new store will also deliver the lowest prices every day to Bunnings customers across the city and the wider Otago region.
"The Dunedin site will be a great addition to our current Bunnings Warehouse stores in the South Island," says Mr Cranston.
"Bunnings has experienced strong growth, thanks to our extensive range, great service and every day low prices. The opening of Bunnings Warehouse in Dunedin means we are able to add a new dimension to the DIY needs of the region."
When completed the Bunnings Warehouse Dunedin store will employ around 120 people.
"The creation of these new jobs will not be the only positive impact on the community; Bunnings team members are encouraged to play an active part in their local communities by supporting charities and community groups. Customers will also benefit from Bunnings' innovations, including a hire shop, free 'how to' DIY clinics, special order facilities, a children's playground and a café," explains Mr Cranston.
Since entering the New Zealand market in 2001 through the acquisition of Benchmark Building Supplies, the company has invested in excess of $100m in New Zealand and grown to include 14 large format Bunnings Warehouses throughout the country. Bunnings has two stores in the South Island (in Christchurch and Ashburton) and two further stores currently under construction in Christchurch and Nelson.
