Bendon Sport Survey Exposes Workout Risk
Exercising is top of mind for many Kiwi women as they strive to look their best for summer but they could be putting
their sexy silhouette at risk by not wearing a sports bra.
A staggering 31% of Kiwi women surveyed in the Bendon Sport Survey [The Bendon Sport Survey ran between 6 August – 24
August 2007 on the Bendon website and through the database, with 2368 respondents] do not own a sports bra yet 81%
exercise at least once a week.
“You wouldn’t work out in heels so why work out in your fashion lingerie?” says Bendon Sport Brand Manager Stephanie
Quantrill.
“It’s great that so many Kiwi women are getting active but breast support is really important as breast bounce while
exercising can lead to permanent breast sag, no matter what your cup size,” says Quantrill.
Sports bras are essential for all levels of impact from gym work outs and golf to dance and running. The Bendon Sport
survey saw walking and running come out on top as the most desirable way of keeping fit (45%) while going to the gym
came in second most popular (21%). For many Kiwi women, active lives also means a healthy libido as having sex was the
third most popular way to keep fit (13%).
Only 19% of women surveyed said they rarely exercised as they had kids or were too busy.
When asked what was desired in the perfect sport underwear range, quick-dry fabrics were the most popular at 32%
followed by convertible straps/racer backs at 19% and anti-bacterial technology to minimise odour at15%.
