Garuda Appoints GSA Cargo Services to Expand Australasian Markets
Garuda Indonesia is pleased to announce the appointment of GSA Cargo Services as cargo general sales and services agent in Australia and New Zealand with effect 1 December 2007.
Managed by professionals with more than 30 years experience in the air cargo industry, GSA Cargo Services will be responsible for all of the carrier’s cargo sales and marketing activities, as well as reservations functions.
The airline’s General Manager Australia and South West Pacific, Mr Poerwoko Soeparyono, says Garuda Indonesia’s Cargo Services Manager, Mr Joe Haddad, will remain with Garuda Indonesia and undertake a liaison role between the company and the new cargo GSA, thereby ensuring a seamless transition and continuity of service to the industry.
Mr Haddad says he welcomes the opportunities that Garuda Indonesia’s expanded representation will provide and looks forward to working in partnership with GSA Cargo Services to further develop the export market.
“Indonesia was the 10th largest destination for Australian air freight last year, when Australia’s airfreight exports totalled almost 5,300 tonnes and had a total value in excess of $130 million,” said Donna Mayne, Director of GSA Cargo Services.
“With offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, GSA Cargo Services is ideally positioned to assist Garuda Indonesia grow its freight operation.
“Sydney and Melbourne account for a significant portion of the Indonesian airfreight export and these ports are well serviced by Garuda Indonesia’s A330-300 aircraft. Garuda Indonesia also has two major advantages; direct services to Indonesia and competitive pricing.
GSA’s dual marketing focus will be to ensure that existing clients are well serviced during the transition to a cargo GSSA, while actively targeting new clients.
“Our aim is to make Garuda Indonesia a dominant force in the Australasian air freight industry through enhanced marketing of the entire Garuda network.” says Ms. Mayne.
Garuda Indonesia operates 27 flights per week from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Darwin.
