The five-star way to put the ‘festive’ back into Christmas and New Year
If a stress-free Christmas and an elegant New Year’s Eve sounds tempting, then look no further than Vie restaurant in
Queenstown’s Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa.
Diners can enjoy a sumptuous six-course Christmas lunch or dinner in celebrated ‘Vie’ restaurant for just $135 per adult
or $60 for children under 12.
A champagne cocktail and ‘amuse bouche’ tantalise the tastebuds on arrival, followed by a choice of three appetizers,
including Chef’s special tempura salmon with Asian crab and fried noodle salad.
Roasted orange sherbet refreshes the palate before embarking on main course choices such as roasted turkey breast, local
lamb loin accompanied by sage lemon gnocchi and porcini creme, or seared Marlborough salmon nestled on a bed of mussel
risotto and shellfish bisque.
Finish off with traditional warm Christmas pudding (with a twist), or a baked citrus tart with white chocolate sorbet
and raspberries. Coffee and sweet Christmas treats complete the symphony of flavours.
For guests looking for a more intimate atmosphere, Sofitel Queenstown has created a special $70 room service menu just
for two. A selection of chef’s specialties is available to choose from on each platter including roast turkey breast
with prosciutto and cranberry orange relish, Clevedon organic pacific oysters or poached Marlborough salmon with saffron
aioli. A third platter is filled with sweet Christmas goodies.
On New Year’s Eve, Sofitel Queenstown is putting on a simply stunning eight-course Chef’s Tasting Menu. The menu
features dishes such as local crayfish and venison, finishing with a surprise dessert simply called CITRUS. Other
highlights include live music and dancing. The evening is priced at $200 per head, or $300 per head with wines matched
from the hotel’s extensive cellar.
General Manager Mark Wilkinson says bookings are essential for Christmas Day and New Year event.
“Our Christmas and New Year events have proved to be hugely successful, selling out every year. On New Year’s Eve we
have the perfect spot to go outside at midnight and watch the Queenstown Bay fireworks.”
