New property management offices in Christchurch reflect ambitious plans
13 November 2007: The opening of three new Harcourts property management offices in Christchurch in recent weeks
reflects ambitious plans to increase market share in the exciting rental property sector.
The newest of these offices is the Harcourts gold Accommodation House in Papanui – the latest venture of successful
Harcourts business owners John and Lynette McFadden.
Located opposite Harcourts gold’s Papanui real estate office, the new rental service and property management office is a
perfect addition to the group’s five real estate offices and their large database of contacts.
Mr McFadden said diversifying into property management was a natural progression. “The focus now is on increasing the
business’ rent roll and ensuring we add value to our increasing client-base of renters and property owners across the
city.”
Meanwhile, further south long-term Harcourts business owners Bruce Lindsay, Grant Chappell and Dougal Boyd have
partnered with David Curtis in forming Harcourts Phoenix Property Management in Riccarton.
The new business combines the experience of the Harcourts Phoenix Real Estate trio, who already have three real estate
offices in Christchurch, with the property management expertise of Mr Curtis, the founder of Resolute Property
Management, a company which has experienced substantial growth in its five years of operation.
Mr Lindsay said the new property management business was established to meet the needs of investors and tenants in
Riccarton and surrounding suburbs. “We saw a golden opportunity to fill a gap in that market and to demonstrate how
experience and know-how can make a big difference. The level of revenue we’re already generating is proof we’re doing
the right thing.”
Finally in Hornby, one of Harcourts’ longest standing business partnerships of Kevin McKay and David Johnson have teamed
up with a successful independent business owner to launch Harcourts Intotal Property Management.
The pair, who have three real estate offices in Hornby, Barrington and Halswell, have entered into a joint venture with
Bruce and Stephanie Pyott of Intotal Property Management, which has five property managers.
Mr McKay says the new venture enables them to “complete the cycle of service” for clients. “For many years our Harcourts
team have had requests for property management services and with Bruce operating a high quality business in our area
complementary to ours, the new joint venture has generated a lot of positive feedback from our clients as well as
bringing in a lot of new business.”
Harcourts New Zealand CEO Bryan Thomson said growing Harcourts share of the rental property management business is
crucial to ensuring the company can provide seamless service to clients.
“The ability for our clients to access the full range of services with regard to their property transactions is a
massive advantage we can offer and to have an additional three dedicated property management offices is great news for
the Christchurch market.”
