THL Rentals set standard for low emissions
Tourism Holdings Rentals fleet of motorhomes will be the first in New Zealand to completely meet Vehicle Testing New Zealand’s “Three and Five Star” in-service rating awarded to vehicles that comply with tough new exhaust emission standards.
THL has worked with VTNZ to develop the demanding new in-service testing regime that sets tougher emissions standards than the stringent Euro IV in-service standard, the current European benchmark.
The four THL brands, Maui, Britz and Backpacker and Explore More are the largest and already the most efficient fleet of motorhomes in Australasia.
“We are confident all our vehicles will pass the test and will be identified with a certificate as having been ‘Approved as one of the world’s lowest emitting vehicles’”, says THL Chief Executive Trevor Hall.
“Visitors shape their opinions of New Zealand products on the experiences they have, so it is incumbent on the tourism industry to meet, or preferably exceed, standards that visitors enjoy in their home countries.
“Unfortunately there are too many operators in New Zealand using imported second-hand vehicles that fall way short of the expectations of tourists and the VTNZ emission standards.
“This is something for all of us to address; industry, Government and vehicle users,” Mr Hall says.
