Human Resources specialist joins Queenstown’s largest hotel
Human Resources specialist Catherine Monaghan brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Queenstown’s soon-to-be
largest hotel.
Novotel Gardens Queenstown has appointed Catherine to the role of Human Resources Manager, in readiness for the launch
of its $13million refurbishment in January.
An Accor employee since 1997, Catherine celebrates her ten year anniversary this year.
Over the years she has worked at Queenstown’s Grand Mercure St Moritz and Mercure Resort, gaining experience in many
facets of hotel operations including food and beverage, finance, front office and human resource management.
Novotel Gardens General Manager Carl Braddock says he’s very pleased to have secured Catherine, particularly in view of
the hotel’s significant expansion.
“Catherine’s promotion to Novotel Gardens is in recognition of her abilities and skills. It will give her the
opportunity to demonstrate these in a larger property, as Novotel Gardens re-opens as Queenstown’s largest hotel.
“She will be a major contributor to the Accor Queenstown HR team, working on innovative strategies to continue its place
in the market as ‘employer of choice’.”
Catherine says is looking forward to January’s launch and is excited about her new role.
“It gives me the chance to combine my love for HR with my knowledge and experience of the business, as well as being
able to draw on what I’ve learned through my diploma in Hospitality Management.”
The Novotel Gardens Queenstown development started in October 2006 and is on target to be completed by January 2008. An
additional 70 rooms will mean the hotel has 273 rooms on offer catering for up to 546 guests - a 34% increase in
potential guest numbers. The extension will officially make the hotel Queenstown’s largest accommodation provider.
