nakedbus.com Launches New Route between New Plymouth, Hamilton and Auckland for Popular Service
Hundreds of Kiwi and overseas travellers will now benefit from cheaper bus fares thanks to the new and rapidly expanding bus service, nakedbus.com.
nakedbus.com has today announced a new service between New Plymouth, Hamilton and Auckland for as little as $1 (plus 70c booking fee). Smaller towns, such as Te Kuiti, Te Awamutu and Otorohanga can also be reached. nakedbus.com also provides services in the rest of the country, with its no-frills approach to low cost domestic travel. The new services start on 16 November.
Based on hugely successful transport models like Pacific Blue, nakedbus.com cuts the overhead costs from the ticketing process by providing quick and easy, real-time internet ticketing (visit www.nakedbus.com). The largely ‘self-service’ online ticketing option benefits consumers with savings that are passed directly on to travellers, allowing each bus trip to offer dramatically reduced fares.
nakedbus.com’s CEO, Hamish Nuttall, says he saw a gap in the market for this kind of service in Taranaki and seized the opportunity. “With rising petrol prices and bus fares, it makes sense to offer commuters an alternative to private cars and existing bus services,” he says.
“Each daily bus trip will always have seats from $1 available and the remaining seats will still be extremely competitive compared to what is currently offered by existing long distance bus services. The service is designed so that the earlier you book, the less you pay,” he says.
Nuttall says nakedbus.com brings a much needed boost to long distance public transport and tourism infrastructure in New Zealand. “Our public transport system needs to be more attractive to commuters by providing low cost, convenient, and reliable alternatives – nakedbus.com does this.”
The innovative company is installing technology in its buses which make bus travel easier and less stressful. It already offers consumers the option of electronic ticketing through text messages that are sent to customers’ mobile phones (m-Ticket), and is now accepting bookings on some services as little as five minutes before departure using a new real time mobile technology developed by nakedbus.com, called e-Waybill.
nakedbus.com also offers its customers a loyalty scheme, which means each time consumers travel they are awarded credits toward future trips. nakedbus.com rewards travellers for referring customers in the same way.
