Hukafalls Jet Scoops Top Honours
Hukafalls Jet was last night awarded the Wintech Hospitality, Entertainment and Tourism Award at the Westpac Waikato Business Excellence Awards black tie dinner held at Mystery Creek in Hamilton.
Hukafalls Jet was also named winner of the ACC Workplace Safety category with the judges commenting on the excellent Health and Safety record held by the business and the absolute commitment to employee well-being.
Hukafalls Jet beat off tough competition to take out top honours in both categories, with this year seeing a higher number of entrant companies than ever before. "An outstanding entry presenting extremely high quality standards consistent throughout its whole business from planning, through to staff, through to customer service," said the judges.
Marketing Manager, Michelle Caldwell said: “We are extremely proud of the commitment and capability of our employees who ensure we deliver a world-class tourism experience for our customers and it’s very rewarding to receive such recognition for the efforts they put in.”

2006/7 has been an eventful year for Hukafalls Jet, having completed a successful rebrand project, introduced a brand new fleet of twin-engined state-of-the-art jet boats, experienced unprecedented growth in revenue and passenger yield, built a brand new workshop, and refurbished the retail shop and base building, to name but a few of the projects undertaken.
In summing up the success of this year’s event, Ray Lewis, CEO of the Waikato Chamber of Commerce stated: "It is so important that we take opportunities such as this to acknowledge organisations in our region that are going the extra mile and punching above their weight in the commercial arena. These organisations blaze a trail for all companies in the region to pick up their game and grow their own business."
