ACP Media, Microsoft and ninemsn launch msn.co.nz
SENT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF HEITH MACKAY-CRUISE , CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, ACP MEDIA LIMITED
Hi
Everyone,
Over the past months, Ninemsn (PBL Media and Microsoft owned) & Telecom New Zealand have been working towards an “amicable divorce” separating xtra from msn.
It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of www.msn.co.nz from 1 March 2007 which over time aims to be New Zealand’s leading portal offering NZ specific content integrated with leading services such as hotmail and messenger.
The objective of MSN NZ is to leverage the expertise and success of ninemsn in Australia to create a local business which delivers New Zealand specific content (primarily from ACP Media). We have 1 million Hotmail & 300,000 Messenger users here in NZ who will now have a great new site to go and we are working hard to ensure a smooth transition. Please find attached the new landing page which all xtramsn.co.nz users will be pointed to from 12.01am Thursday giving users the choice to go to xtrayahoo.co.nz or msn.co.nz.
MSN NZ is backed by the strength of Microsoft, ACP Media New Zealand and ninemsn, Australia’s leading online media company.
MSN NZ is launching with some great partnerships including ACP Media, TV3, Seek and Sportal & we will continue to roll out much more over the coming months. There has been much interest from advertisers which bodes well for the business. At launch MSN NZ will have a small team focused on campaign management and sales who will be based out of our ACP Digital offices. When appointed, the MSN NZ General Manager will report to ninemsn in Australia.
I’m really excited that ACP Media is an exclusive partner enabling our leading local magazine and classified content to be available to the msn.co.nz audience. There are currently around 1 million Hotmail consumer and 300,000 Messenger consumers in New Zealand who will have access to a New Zealand content portal which in turn supports the ever increasing number of ACP Digital websites. At launch the majority of our websites will be available including autotrader.co.nz, metrolive.co.nz, runwayreporter.co.nz, taste.co.nz, netguide.co.nz and our trader specialist sites. In the coming weeks we will add to the portal both new sites and existing site relaunches from ACP Digital as they become available.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank the ACP Digital team as well as Microsoft and ninemsn for the work involved in successfully bringing this initiative to launch.
Regards,
Heith.
