Commission receives application for bitstream reconsideration from CallPlus
The Commerce Commission has received an application from CallPlus for reconsideration of Decision 582 so far as it
relates to the price of the regulated bitstream service supplied to CallPlus by Telecom. This follows a similar
application by ihug Limited.
The Commission will consider CallPlus’ application and has requested comments from Telecom and ihug. Should the
Commission accept the application, it will issue a draft determination, followed by a final determination, amending or
replacing Decision 582.
Bitstream is a circuit provided by Telecom between an end-user's premises and an ATM switch. This circuit is used by a
telecommunications provider to deliver retail broadband services. A telecommunications provider must supply other
components including international transmission, connection to the internet and ISP services.
