Newmarket silences those criticising the lack of Christmas spirit in Auckland
Newmarket is squashing the myth that there's not enough Christmas cheer around the place.
The Newmarket Business Association has employed six Christmas ambassadors, adding to the shopping experience in
Auckland's leading retail district from now until Christmas.
The ambassadors, all smartly uniformed, not only come with plenty of Christmas cheer and local knowledge, but also carry
visitor maps and umbrellas.
"The Christmas ambassadors are all about adding to Newmarket's already exceptional customer experience," says Lea Worth,
marketing manager for the Newmarket Business Association.
"They help people with their shopping bags, shelter pedestrians with umbrellas, hand out maps, point visitors in the
right direction, and advise where the free car-parking is.
"Newmarket is going to be so busy, particularly in those last two weekends before Christmas. We highly value our
shoppers and want to make sure they're warmly welcomed with a Merry Christmas and a helping hand if they need one," said
Mrs Worth.
Santa himself will be in Newmarket on certain days before Christmas. Children also have an opportunity to post their
wish-lists to the North Pole in a special red post box outside the Rialto Centre. All letters will be responded to.
Extra Christmas decorations have also been hung in Newmarket this year, funded by the Newmarket Business Association.
