International exposure for luxurious New Zealand
13 December 2006
An exclusive group of New Zealand’s top tourism operators have been selected to take part in the new showcase for New Zealand’s leading luxury travel experiences, PURE LUXURY New Zealand 2007.
The operators will promote New Zealand’s very best luxury products and experiences at PURE LUXURY New Zealand 2007, being held at Treetops Lodge & Estate near Rotorua, 19-21 May [see attached list of confirmed Exhibitors].
During the event, they will hold business meetings with 40 carefully selected international travel specialists who already sell, or have plans to sell, New Zealand tourism products targeted at the luxury sector.
The event has been promoted through a new Buyer Prospectus to hundreds of leading travel specialists attending recent international luxury travel expos in Las Vegas and Cannes. Buyers attending those shows are among those who will be invited to apply for places at PURE LUXURY New Zealand 2007. The final selection takes place before Christmas.
The international Buyers will then be encouraged to take part in TRENZ 2007, New Zealand’s largest annual international tourism business event, at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre, 21-24 May. Here they will be able to meet the operators of the full range of accommodation, activities and attractions their clients can enjoy during a New Zealand holiday. A total of 416 Exhibitors, including an impressive 110 new products, have been confirmed for TRENZ 2007.
Both PURE LUXURY New Zealand and TRENZ are managed by the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA) in partnership with Tourism New Zealand, and with support from Air New Zealand and Qantas.
TIA Chief Executive Fiona Luhrs says she is delighted at the level of
interest the exclusive new event is already attracting from New Zealand operators.
“This is the first time we have held a luxury event as part of TRENZ and the interest from Exhibitors far outstripped the places available. PURE LUXURY New Zealand is the result of in-depth research commissioned with international buyers. Our aim is to bring attention to, and expand, New Zealand’s luxury travel market,” she says.
“Tourism already earns more foreign exchange than any other individual export sector. Innovations like PURE LUXURY New Zealand 2007 will ensure tourism’s contribution to New Zealand’s economy keeps growing.”
