AA's '101' Domestic Travel Initiative Popular Amongst Kiwis
New Zealand's largest domestic tourism initiative ever undertaken - the AA's '101 Must Do's for Kiwi's' - has proven hugely popular with online voters.
The campaign encourages New Zealanders to experience and rate the best our country has to offer, and since the September launch the AA Travel '101' website has attracted more than 5 million page impressions and over 580,000 user sessions.
"We are impressed by the amount of awareness of the '101' travel campaign, and at the overall amount of traffic the website has generated to date," says Pete Blackwell, General Manager of AA Tourism.
"The aim of '101 Must Do's For Kiwis' is to put New Zealand back into the holiday plans of New Zealanders, increasing the amount of Kiwis holidaying at home," he says.
Blackwell says that New Zealanders have really got behind '101' so far, with over 136,000 experience ratings received and more than 19,000 people registering to the site.
"Summer is almost upon us and it's that time when Kiwis are planning their travel over the Christmas and New Year break. It was the ideal time to launch the campaign and get New Zealanders engaged; thinking about what's on offer in our own backyard."
"Kiwis have until early next year to vote online for their favourite '101 Must Do's'. That way people can visit as many of the 101 experiences over the summer holidays."
"While we tend to be world renowned travellers, New Zealander also need reminding that some of the best on offer is our own slice of heaven," he says.
Visitors to the website www.aatravel.co.nz can locate each of the '101 Must Do's' using an interactive map, blog their experiences and upload holiday photos.
The 101 New Zealand experiences were nominated by 32 regional tourism authorities. The overall winner of '101 Must Do's for Kiwis' will be announced in February and will be supported by a TV programme featuring some of the most popular experiences.
