Warm Weather And Business
Did you know that toilet paper sales increase during hot weather? That sales of hair-removal cream can rise up to 1400% and salads by 500% with increasing temperatures?! That for every 1ºC over 18ºC the consumption of softdrinks rises fourfold?!
The relationships between consumer behaviour and weather are undeniably strong and can dramatically modify sales. Datamonitor in the UK found that in grocery and clothing sectors alone, GBP4.5 billion p.a. failed to be realised from not optimising the use of weather in business planning.
MetOcean Solutions Ltd. (MSL) is currently operating a government funded research programme investigating these relationships with the goal of developing a practical planning tool for businesses to use in their day-to-day operations.
MSL is looking for partners who can supply sales and/or operations information for weather sensitive industries. Participants have a no cost opportunity to understand, from a consultants report, specific temperature and/or other localised weather triggers on their business.
