Air Marshal Ferguson honoured
Air Marshal Bruce Ferguson (Ret.) who was recently appointed Director of Government Communications Security Bureau, has been made a ‘Distinguished Fellow’ of the Institute for Strategic Leadership (DistF ISL).
The award was made at a formal dinner in Wellington this week attended by defence chiefs, the Deputy Commissioner of NZ Police, other chief executives, Government officials and special guests.
The ‘distinguished fellow’ award recognises Air Marshal Ferguson’s career as a Strategic Leader, his participation in the Strategic Leadership Programme at Millbrook in 2000, his ongoing support of the Institute, and for his special contributions to the community.
“The award signals the confidence of the Institute in Air Marshal Ferguson as a role model for other leaders,” said Geoff Lorigan, Director of the Institute of Strategic Leadership.
“It is the Institute’s intention to celebrate success and anoint powerful leadership role models at every opportunity,” he said.
To mark the award, Air Marshal Ferguson was presented with a framed Distinguished Fellow certificate and a Distinguished Fellow’s lapel pin crafted from Central Otago pounamu and gold nuggets mined at Middlemarch. The diamond shape pin represents the four cardinal points of the compass, with True North at the top.

These include the Leadership Programme for High Potentials course run at Hotel du Vin, the Power of 12 programme for senior executives and the Stepping Up coaching programme for the first 100 days for chief executives in their new role. In addition the Institute has tailored strategy programmes for many clients tailored to their individual needs.
