Provenco named ICT Exporter of the Year
Almost tripling export turnover in just four years has seen listed technology company Provenco named ICT Exporter of the Year.
Provenco group Limited (NZX:PVO) was named the top exporting company in ICT (information and communication technology) last night at the 2006 New Zealand Trade & Enterprise Export Awards in Auckland.
Rod MacKenzie Convenor of the judging panel of New Zealand Trade & Enterprise said the judges were very impressed with Provenco’s thorough understanding of its markets and world-leading technology.
“Innovation, consumer understanding and managing strategic partnerships are all strengths of this business,” said Mr MacKenzie.
Provenco chief executive officer, David Ritchie, says winning the award is a major achievement that will be celebrated by all staff.
“We are a company built on developing and delivering smart technology for our retail customers. Our staff are working at the cutting edge of technology and their combined talents and expertise have made this win possible,” says Mr Ritchie.
Provenco has grown into a significant export business focused on developing and providing petrol station technologies for the global retail oil industry.
“Our knowledge and experience in these markets, gained over 30 years and across more than 20 counties, has enabled us to develop our product and service offering to meet international market needs,” says Mr Ritchie.
Provenco’s success is largely driven around development of superior pay at the pump technology. This refers to the outdoor payment technology that is being demanded globally by the phased worldwide rollout of EMV, where new chip cards or smart cards are replacing magnetic stripe cards to curb credit card fraud.
Provenco implemented the world’s first fully integrated pay at the pump EMV-compliant technology in Malaysia, which is the world’s second largest pay at the pump market after the United States.
Since then the company has continued to lead the way by providing EMV working solutions for petrol station forecourts and the associated retail oil environment in countries including Hong Kong, Belgium, India and Kuwait.
“Major international petroleum companies know they can trust Provenco to deliver complex and tailored solutions that meet their specific and often demanding requirements,” says Mr Ritchie.
“We are continually evaluating new export markets and look forward to contributing to the New Zealand economy as an increasingly strong export company in years to come.”
The annual Export Awards are now in their 40th year and are recognised nationally and internationally as the most prestigious awards given to New Zealand exporters.
