Mobile Music Set To Explode With New Vodafone Music Service
Mobile music takes centre stage today with the launch of the new Vodafone Music service which includes an online music
store and new dual delivery full music track downloads for a hot new price of $1.99.
The Vodafone Music store is New Zealand’s most integrated music web store, offering both ring tones and full albums.

Head of Music at Vodafone, Morgan Donoghue, says the launch of dual delivery full music tracks at this price makes the
world of mobile music affordable for many people.
“It’s an exciting time in the mobile music space; it’s where the industry is heading in a big way. Sales of Full Music
Tracks are already outselling physical single sales. That’s a huge shift already so we expect the digital market will
explode with Vodafone Music,” says Morgan, who recently left the role of EMI Music Marketing Manager to head up the
music category at Vodafone.
“Our customers have shown they love Full Music Tracks and now we’re adding even more value to that experience.”
Dual delivery means that customers receive two files for only $1.99 – one for their pc and one for their mobile.
Customers can choose to purchase dual delivery Full Music Tracks either from the Vodafone Music site or through Vodafone
live! on their mobile when in a 3G coverage area. No matter which method they choose, the track is delivered to both
devices.
“This is great value music. Vodafone also makes it easy for customers to purchase music with the cost going straight to
your mobile bill or prepay credit. There’s no need for a credit card to make the purchase,” says Morgan.
This coupled with new specialist music mobiles like the Nokia N91 with a 3,000 track-capacity 4GB memory, means that
customers only need one device for mobile music. There’ll be no need to carry around a mobile and separate music player.
Their PC can act as their music library and the mobile phone will be their communication tool and music device
all-in-one.
Ringtones will cost $4.50 each for realtones and $3.50 each for polyphonics. Full albums can be picked up for just
$17.99.
To help celebrate the Vodafone Music and dual delivery launch, Vodafone is putting on an exclusive concert tonight
featuring international hip hop star Chingy. The gig at Auckland’s St James is the first in an exclusive series of
concerts called the Vodafone Music Sessions which allow customers to get close to their favourite local and
international acts. Tickets were available to the first 400 people to download any Chingy full music track on Vodafone
live!.
