Business Intelligence Software Company SAS Celebrates 25 Years In NZ
This week marks the 25th anniversary of SAS Institute, a leading business intelligence software vendor, establishing its presence in the New Zealand market.
The company which is the world’s largest privately owned software company, has the largest share of the worldwide analytics market and is the second largest vendor in the fast growing Business Intelligence market.[1]
SAS’s New Zealand General Manager Anthony Bishop said, “The 25th anniversary comes at a time when the business is undergoing strong growth as a result of a broadened suite of products and applications.”
The company’s reputation was initially built on the quality of its analytic software, which was used by mathematicians, statisticians and analysts in universities, the public sector and financial institutions. SAS has had an ongoing association with Statistics New Zealand since the 1970s, predating the company’s arrival in New Zealand.
In recent years, particularly since the release of its SAS 9 solution, the company has delivered broader capability that meets increasingly complex Business Intelligence requirements.
“Expanding our focus, by taking the power of analytics into the business intelligence space, has seen SAS move in a short timeframe from being a very big fish in a small pond into a much larger market. As a result SAS in Australia and New Zealand has achieved double-digit yearly growth over the last three years. Today SAS has revenue in New Zealand in excess of $NZ10 million.
“As a consequence, we have increased both the number of clients using SAS software and the depth of activity, meaning more organisations throughout the country can make better, faster decisions based on the data they collect and integrate across their enterprises. Essentially, this provides our clients with opportunities that enable them to outpace their competitors or produce better outcomes,” Mr Bishop said.
