Wellington Scoops HANZ National Awards
"The annual HANZ Awards of Excellence are the pinnacle of hospitality awards in New Zealand".
That's what Tim Ward from the San Francisco Bath House stated to an audience including Hon Marian Hobbs, Mark Blumsky MP, Deputy Mayor Alick Shaw and a array of hospitality personalities as he accepted the HANZ Best Music Entertainment Venue and the Supreme Overall winner awards for 2006.
The annual awards dinner was held two weeks ago in Queenstown where Wellington operators were prevalent as finalists and winners. Wellington success stories include:
San Francisco Bath House winners in Best music Venue and Supreme Overall Winner
Bolton Hotel winners in Excellence in Marketing and Excellence in Customer Service
Gladstone Inn winner of Best Country Hotel
Southern Cross Bar and Restaurant finalists Best redeveloped Bar/Restaurant
Local HANZ Wellington president and national board member Adam Cunningham said "the fact that Wellington continues to feature in these highly sort after awards is a true indicator of the service, quality and passion that the capital delivers to both domestic and international customers".
Mr Cunningham continued by saying "the overall calibre of award recipients and range of winners is substantial. The finalists continue to highlight the diversity of the hospitality industry and HANZ members in our region. The fact that a five star accommodation facility, a leading live music venue, a hospitality iconic bar and traditional country hotel were profiled is an exciting statement about our association, and the future of the hospitality industry".
The final word deservedly goes to the supreme winning combination of Clinton den Heyer and Tim Ward "we are totally humbled by this, as owners, you rarely get the chance to get a pat on the back, this award is the ultimate back pat for us and our team".
Wellington will host the HANZ national awards presentation in September 2007.
