Disappointment Expressed Over Bootcamp Cancellation
SPONSORS and speakers due to take part the much-publicised ‘Bootcamp’event this weekend (October 13-15, 2006) have spoken out after being told it had been cancelled.
Those involved were only contacted at 1pm yesterday (Thurs, Oct 12, 2006) by organiser Greg Stewart of the Quadrant Corporation.
They were told Mr Stewart’s financial mismanagement of the event led to its collapse at the eleventh-hour.
High-profiled speakers had already flown into Auckland from around the world expecting to take part in the event which was aimed at small business owners.
Hundreds of people had also already bought tickets to the three-day seminar due to take place at the TelstraClear Events Centre in Manakau.
Key sponsors Bartercard said they had not even received an official apology from Mr Stewart.
Sarah Churton from Bartercard said: “We, along with all the speakers involved agreed to be part of this event in good-faith.
“We were excited about the opportunity to inspire small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in New Zealand and have been badly let down by Mr Stewart without any formal apology.
“We are determined to turn this unfortunate turn of events into a positive and are currently working with others involved to discuss how we should proceed.”
Bill Rancic is among the speakers who had flown to Auckland for the event.
“Obviously this is incredibly disappointing,”said Mr Rancic.
“I came here because I am passionate about sharing my experiences and inspiring others and I have been personally burnt by Mr Stewart.”
“There is always a silver-lining and on a positive note this is my first time in New Zealand and I’m really pleased to be here in this beautiful country and meeting some great people.”
Notes to Editors
The Bootcamp event due to take place in Sydney, Australia, from October 20-22, 2006 has also been cancelled.
