Norsewear Welcomes Confirmation That Buy New Zealand Made Will Mean Just That
Norsewear CEO Robert Linterman has welcomed the Government's announcement that the Buy New Zealand Made and Buy Kiwi Made brands will be reserved for products actually made here.
"This is a victory for common sense. Products with a Buy New Zealand Made label should be made here. It is that simple. A consumer who buys a product marked Buy New Zealand Made and then finds out it is manufactured in China will be rightly annoyed. The Government should be congratulated for deciding that these important brands should be available only for businesses which have made the decision to stay in New Zealand, make their products in New Zealand and create jobs in New Zealand," says Mr Linterman.
"A tremendous amount of effort has gone into establishing the Buy New Zealand brand and logo over the years and it is pleasing to see the distinctive 'kiwi in a triangle' logo will be at the centre of the Government's campaign," he says.
"Norsewear is company which is proud to have remained 'true to the country'. We congratulate the Government for resisting calls by companies manufacturing off-shore to be included. There are plenty of other avenues for these companies to access Government support without compromising the Buy New Zealand Made message," says Mr Linterman.
"The planned roadshows promoting awareness of New Zealand made goods around the country are a positive start for the Buy Kiwi Made campaign. We hope to be there," he says.
