Freightways to market same day freight on Qantas domestic services
Freightways Limited (Freightways) confirmed today that its subsidiary, Air Freight NZ Limited, had contracted to market
the freight capacity on the network of services operated by Qantas in New Zealand.
Air Freight NZ Limited, which has approximately 20 years experience in managing airfreight in New Zealand, provides
existing services to Freightways’ express package brands.
This same day capacity had previously been marketed by Origin Pacific Airfreight. Freightways Managing Director, Dean
Bracewell says Freightways had received “a great level of support since it stepped in and offered its own services to
customers left stranded when Origin Pacific ceased operating.”
Under this agreement, Air Freight NZ Limited with access to the extensive nationwide road network of Freightways’
express package brands of SUB60, Kiwi Express, New Zealand Couriers, Post Haste and Castle Parcels will be able to
provide further reach to the same day airfreight capacity offered by Qantas.
“While the same day freight market is relatively small, this new service will further extend our existing suite of
express package services,” says Mr Bracewell. “We are confident Air Freight NZ Limited can create a viable business out
of this service that will contribute positive incremental returns to Freightways,”
