Cellphone Opponent Softens His Stance
Blue-Collar Mobile Radio Customers Will Benefit
For the first time in New Zealand two telecommunications network operators have joined forces. TeamTalk, New Zealand’s largest mobile radio company has signed an agreement to resell Vodafone services.
TeamTalk Managing Director David Ware, (renowned for not using a cell phone) says working together to supply data services will give customers a seamless package – on mobile radio, cellular or utilising both networks, depending on their needs.
“Personally I can’t stand cellphones. But TeamTalk recognises one size doesn’t fit all and for some of our customers mobile radio isn’t the entire solution for mobile data. So we’ve reached an agreement to wholesale Vodafone’s data services,” Mr Ware said.
Under the agreement TeamTalk will sell, provision, support and bill Vodafone data services. The Vodafone product will be completely integrated into some of TeamTalk’s computer-aided dispatch and vehicle tracking solutions.
“The best thing from a customer’s perspective is they’ll only deal with one company for all their mobile data needs,” Mr Ware concluded.
Vodafone Sales Manager Reg Barrett said TeamTalk is the leading solution provider in the transport, logistics and distribution sectors. “TeamTalk has a large number of loyal and happy customers with whom they have an excellent relationship,” Mr Barrett said. “We feel Vodafone’s standardised products in this space are an ideal compliment to the customised offerings from TeamTalk.”
