Top Sites for week to 10 September - Technology Category
Attached is a ranking of the top New Zealand websites for the week to 10 September, from Nielsen//NetRatings' Market Intelligence service for the Technology category.
More New Zealanders are keeping up with technology online, as visitors to this category increased by 20% this week compared to previous week, according to the Nielsen//NetRatings' Market Intelligence service. Visitors to the technology category skew towards males (59%) and people aged between 20 - 44 years.
New technology is hitting the news almost everyday, often with respect to Telecom's ramping up of local broadband or with competitor offerings such as the recent announcement by Vodafone of its upgraded 3G broadband service. Technology companies are more likely to focus on higher income earners or technical people and 14% of visitors to sites in this category are business managers or executives, 18% are professionals or senior government officials, and 16% are technical or skilled workers according to Market Intelligence.
News like the New Zealand Government offering a local 3D-graphics company (Right Hemisphere) a $14 million interest-free loan to keep the major part of it operation in New Zealand and Telecom's announcement of its intention to provide global roaming to its mobile phone users, the technology category is likely to be of interest to many New Zealanders. According to Market Intelligence, visitors to sites in the technology category are regular users of the internet with 86% accessing the internet daily and 11% accessing the internet several times a week.
