Ecostore Exports Clean Green to the UK
An absolute belief that New Zealand’s export destiny lies with creating quality products that promote and maintain the
country’s clean green image, is the motivation behind local company Ecostore’s international drive, and is highlighted
by the announcement of its first export order to the United Kingdom.
“The distributor for the export order is using Ecostore products as their calling card to break into the fast growing
environment products and organics markets in the UK and throughout Europe” said founder and CEO of Ecostore, Malcolm
Rands.
Since Ecostore entered the New Zealand grocery market four years ago it has been experiencing up to 100% a year growth.
The UK distributor Biobeej Ltd has developed a relationship with major supermarkets and specialty stores.
At present, other export destinations for Ecostore include over 250 stores in Australia, and stores in Korea, Hong Kong
and Singapore.
The export order to the UK is led by the Ecostore baby range of seven products including Shampoo, Baby Wash, Nappy Balm,
Massage Oil, Moisturiser, Soap, and an aromatherapy bath product.
“However, our eco cleaning range, hair care range and soaps are also being introduced to selected organic and health
retailers so it is looking very exciting long term,” continued Malcolm Rands.
“Our dedication to serious research and development that produces quality genuine eco products makes us very attractive
to international markets as there are so many perceived eco-friendly products that just don’t stack up for discerning
buyers worldwide.”
In order to export to the UK, Ecostore undertook rigorous EU testing on labelling and ingredients to be accepted.
This process was very important for the company to ensure that their products were of the highest quality and delivered
what they promised.
“New Zealand’s content and labelling processes are nowhere near as stringent,” explained Malcolm, “ but we are pleased
that we now have full transparency which is very important if you are selling from a clean green platform”.
