New Managing Director For Mazda New Zealand
Peter Aitken Steps Down after 30 Years
Andrew Clearwater has been appointed managing director of Mazda New Zealand succeeding Peter Aitken who has decided to step down after 30 years with the company.
Clearwater brings a wealth of experience to the new role having previously been general manager sales and marketing at Mazda, a position he has held for 12 years.
Yuji Nakamine, executive officer and general manger overseas sales division, Mazda Motor Corporation believes the appointment of Andrew Clearwater as managing director will ensure a very smooth transition for Mazda New Zealand staff and Mazda dealers throughout the country.
“We have been aware for sometime of Peter’s intention to step down from the role and have been working with him to put a succession plan in place. Under Peter’s guidance Mazda New Zealand has been on a very strong growth path for a number of years and we have every confidence that Andrew has the skill and expertise to continue this trend and help take the company to the next level. ”
After 30 years with the company Aitken feels the time is right to put someone new in the driver’s seat.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the company and had some great experiences but I believe it is the right time for a change. I am delighted that Andrew has been appointed to the role. He has the enthusiasm and vision to do an outstanding job.”
Clearwater will officially take over the role on November 1st 2006.
