CallPlus Appoints General Manager to Plan and Develop Telecommunication Networks
New Zealand, Auckland – Friday 25 August, 2006 - CallPlus, New Zealand’s largest 100% kiwi owned full service
telecommunications company, has appointed John Butt as the new General Manager Networks for CallPlus Services Limited.
Mr Butt’s role will involve planning, development and construction of the CallPlus Network. He will also manage the
operation of, facilities and services offered to CallPlus customers and wholesale sales and services.
Trained as a telecommunications engineer, Mr Butt’s management experience extends from Local Loop, to transmission over
fibre and radio. He is a recognised expert in business risk analysis, utilising complex revenue models to review the
risk of forecasts.
Mr Butt has held roles in executive sales and marketing management. For Telecom he managed its capital programme, set
the inaugural company depreciation rates and created its calling marketing plan that led to the "animal's" series
campaign. He was Network Director for Telecom Wellington prior to its incorporation back into Telecom.
The achievements Mr Butt has made within the telecommunications market include driving the cabinetisation of the Local
Loop in the 1990s and the abolition of distance pricing for calls.
