Make People Go Away: Lonely Planet Digital Now Hiring
Melbourne, August 17, 2006: Global publisher, Lonely Planet has joined a chorus of local and international businesses seeking employees with skills in new media and IT applications.
With plans to revolutionise its online presence, Lonely Planet is actively recruiting for highly creative people with an unbridled passion for travel who will drive transformation of the company’s web-based offering using cutting edge technology.
‘We are looking for highly skilled, creative thinkers who can take Lonely Planet on a journey to the future today’, says Sue Sutton, Global Business Capabilities Manager.
‘As consumers are increasingly more technologically savvy, more demanding about the deepness and richness of information they access, and more collaborative with each other, the challenge for Lonely Planet is to develop new content delivery platforms to make it easier for travellers to access information they trust and then to share that information with each other whether online or using portable devices’, adds Sutton.
Lonely Planet’s new digital team will be charged with driving changes to every aspect of Lonely Planet’s online offering. These new projects will impact on all areas of the business facilitating greater integration between Lonely Planet’s print and digital products.
The team will include a Program Office Manager, a Program Director, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Architects, a Digital Development Manager and Java developers, to name a few of the key roles.
‘For those interested in joining us, these new projects will stretch a person’s creativity and challenge their assumptions about content delivery. It’s an exciting time for Lonely Planet’, says Ian Posthumus, Global Human Resources Manager.
