Business Performance Conference Attracts Top Speakers
Economic Development Minister to present
A prestigious international conference on developing management and organisational capability is being held in New
Zealand in December, with the Minister of Economic Development Hon Trevor Mallard as a keynote speaker.
The theme of the Congress is Developing Management and Organisational Capability to improve Business Performance.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for New Zealand businesses to take the best international ideas and apply them to their
own organisations,” says organiser, Dr Robin Mann on behalf of the business organisations supporting the Congress.
New Zealand is hosting the 11th World Congress from 3rd to 8th December in Wellington (see
http://www.worldcongressnz.com/. ) It’s the first time that the Congress has met in Australasia.
The congress is being organised by Dr Robin Mann, who is the Director of the Centre for Organisational Excellence
Research (COER) at Massey University and it is supported by the New Zealand Institute of Management, the New Zealand
Business Excellence Foundation, and the New Zealand Organisation for Quality, SAI-Global, the Business Capability
Partnership and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
The Congress features a top class line up of international speakers, and a wide range of New Zealand speakers.
The three day meeting (4-6 December) also has a number of New Zealand speakers including business writer Rod Oram, and
the winner (yet to be announced) of the Business Excellence Awards for top enterprise. The winner of the equivalent
award for Australian businesses will also make a presentation at the Congress.
Specialised workshops precede and follow the Congress.
Dr Mann says the Congress has attracted exceptional speakers - business leaders and scholars - who will be providing
practical ideas on how to improve organisational performance.
“We want to provide attendees with an understanding of what it takes to become a successful organisation in the business
world of today and tomorrow.
“There are eight streams in the Congress, and altogether we will have over 150 speakers from more than thirty countries.
“This is the first and probably the only time that so many top people have come to New Zealand to share their
experiences in management and leadership, he said.
The eight streams are:
• Developing Business Capability
• Leadership
• Strategy
• Customer and Market Focus
• Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management
• Process Management
• Human Resource Focus
• Health
All the main players involved in improving the quality of management in New Zealand organisations are behind this
Congress, says NZIM Chief Executive, David Chapman.
“It is a unique opportunity for our businesses to learn from international best practice.”
The New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation will present its annual awards during the Congress. NZ BEF Chief
Executive Mike Watson says the congress will be a great opportunity for learning and networking.
“This is an excellent opportunity for New Zealand businesses to hear about the experiences of top international and
local companies and to learn how they have improved their performance.”
