Pretty Damn Quick broadband
TelstraClear made its mark on New Zealand’s broadband stage today with the launch of new nationwide broadband plans.
Called PDQ - the new plans offer customers a real choice in how they receive broadband, with no bill shock at the end of the month.
TelstraClear Chief Executive Allan Freeth says that unlike any other broadband plan, PDQ allows customers to tailor their broadband speed and usage to meet their specific requirements.
“PDQ stands for ‘Pretty Damn Quick’ and that’s exactly what we’re offering customers. Fast and flexible broadband. With PDQ you can choose between four different broadband speeds and two different usage packs. You get to design what you want.”
“PDQ is TelstraClear’s first nationwide consumer broadband service. It will be delivered via the Unbundled Bitstream Service (UBS) and is an example of the way TelstraClear is changing the game in broadband. PDQ gives customers a taste of what’s to come.”
PDQ speed plans range in price from $26 per month for 256 kbps download speed and 128 kbps upload speed, to $66 per month for 3.5Mbps download speed and 512 kbps upload speed. Customers also need to buy a usage pack and PDQ offers 1G usage packs for $2.95 per month, or for heavy users such as gamers, 10G packs for only $11.95.
Dr Freeth said that each time a customer uses all of their selected usage pack, they will automatically be given another usage pack of the same size.
“PDQ has no throttle - we’ll simply give customers another usage pack of the same size so they can continue to get broadband speed uninterrupted. Customers will be sent regular email notifications, for monitoring usage throughout the billing month. They can also go online at any time to check their usage at www.clear.net.nz/tools or www.paradise.net.nz.
Dr Freeth says that PDQ is all about ease of use for the customer, with simple and transparent pricing ensuring no surprises at bill time.
“Customers have more control over their broadband usage without the fuss. Their monthly bill will simply vary depending on how many 1G or 10G packs they need in a billing month and they won’t be charged a premium for overage. One of the biggest advantages is that customers can have their phone line rental, toll and Internet charges all on the one bill with TelstraClear.”
Customers can go wild and experience true broadband with a joining offer of free usage packs up to 10G per month for the first two months. Customers can sign up for PDQ online at www.telstraclear.co.nz/go/pdq. Sign up online before 31 August 2006 and customers will also receive a free modem worth $69.95.
PDQ customers receive free virus and spam protection and can sign up for a 60 day free trial of Norton Internet Security 2006, which will help keep their computer safe and secure and features automatic updates.
