Strong Demand for Picturesque Coastal Taranaki Subdivision Sees Early Release of Fifth Stage

The release of five stages of a “major” subdivision over the last three years in the attractive coastal and rural area
of Bell Block just north of New Plymouth is a clear sign to Harcourts Bell Block Manager, Graeme Rogers, that the area
just keeps getting more popular.
One of the largest stages has been the most recently released 40 hectare block between Mangati and Wills roads which had
been a dairy farm in the same family for the last 80 years. “With its proximity to the sea, schools, shopping, airport,
golf course along with the sea to stunning mountain views, ‘Mangati’ is a very attractive subdivision,” said Mr Rogers.
He noted that the first four stages of Mangati subdivision included 63 sections, of which 58 had been sold with plenty
of housing construction now underway. The positive response and high public demand for the subdivision meant an earlier
than anticipated release of the fifth stage which consisted of 26 sections ranging from 608sqm to 1,533sqm and prices
ranging from $107,000 to around $130,000. Mr Rogers confirmed that nine of those 26 sections were already under
contract.
Since the release of the sections, Mr Rogers noted that many of the initial purchasers had been “out of towners” born in
the New Plymouth area and keen to return “home” to retire or raise a family. “Once you have lived in Taranaki you can
never ever get the mountain or the sea air out of your blood!”
He added the greater New Plymouth and Bell Block areas had experienced very positive changes in recent years with buyers
from both locally and further a field increasingly attracted to the picturesque and unique scenery of stunning
coastline, a majestic mountain, all within a lush green rural setting. “The big changes to the area including the
extensive sea-front walkway, Waiwhakaiho Basin shopping complex and the proposed Bell Block bypass have all helped to
make this an even more desirable place to live.”
