GASTROENTERITIS INCIDENT
The Eden Park Trust Board today publicly apologised to Patrons affected by the gastroenteritis incident that occurred at the Irish Test on 17 June 2006.
“The release of ARPHS report on their investigation of the incident brings certainty to the reasons behind the incident”, said Murray Reade, General Manager of the Eden Park Trust Board.
“The incident has been clearly identified as a product issue. Our caterers, Michael O’Brien Catering purchased oysters for the event from a leading NZ food supplier. They have accepted responsibility for the incident and will be offering compensation to affected Patrons. We will be joining Michael O’Brien Catering next week to apologise to those hosts whose functions were affected by the incident.”
The Eden Park facilities used by Michael O’Brien catering passed inspection by the City Council in May.
“The investigation did make a number of recommendations unrelated to the incident”, said Mr. Reade. “Michael O’Brien Catering will implement them immediately, with our full support”.
“Eden Park serves many thousands of meals annually. We have continued to function successfully since the incident. The Trust Board has confidence in Michael O’Brien Catering and their response to this incident and we look forward to building our association with them”.
