Wotif.com applauds Her Business Awards category winner.
7th July 2006 www.wotif.com Wotif.com, Australasia’s leading accommodation website is delighted that Delwyn Vincent of Matakana Patisserie scooped the Her Business Award for the “Most Inspirational Role Model.”
The Awards ceremony held recently in Auckland, saw Delwyn up against some stiff competition for the award.
According to Delwyn, her journey started five years ago when her and husband Tyrone stumbled across the sleepy village of Matakana, north of Auckland.
“It had desolate roads and a bakery in need of a real makeover! From humble beginnings our business has assisted with putting Matakana on the map,” said Delwyn.
“People drive for miles just to taste our Pies, European Breads and enjoy Award winning gastronomic delights that our team bakes fresh every day,” she said.
The business in April had to move into bigger premises as the original shop was bursting at the seams. It was then that Delwyn and Tyrone changed the name from Pop-in Patisserie to become Matakana Patisserie.
“We have successful designed an inviting place where people can relax & enjoy our vast array of gourmet delights. My passion & belief for the products my husband and team create has driven our business to the success it is rewarded with today,” said Delwyn.
“I was absolutely overwhelmed to be awarded “Most Inspirational Role Model” in the Her Business Businesswoman of the Year 2006 competition. I spent many hours preparing my application & found the process to be valuable to our business. Sometimes we get so tied up in what we are doing we by-pass the many challenges we have faced along the way & the many successes we have so easily forgotten,” she said.
Wotif.Com provided a great reward for Tyrone & I as we have often use the web site online & find it an easy way to make accommodation bookings anywhere in New Zealand.
Wotif.com New Zealand Manager Tania Witheford says the prize of $2,000 worth of accommodation couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person and the fact that she has had experience with Wotif.com is the icing on the cake.
“Without her even realising it Delwyn and Tyrone and team have helped create a tourism destination with their wonderful Matakana Patisserie. They have helped grow Matakana from a once sleepy village to now, a thriving area with wineries, beaches, regional parks and local markets.
Delwyn and Tyrone have recently competed for NZ Bakery of the Year & will hear the results at the end of August.
“Once that is over, we will take our two young boys six year old Josh and three year old Reuben on a well deserved family break.”
