Vodafone V.nue Wins Rider Hunt Supreme Award
Vodafone’s new headquarters in the viaduct, V.nue, was declared the overall winner at the Property Council Rider Hunt
Awards dinner held in Auckland on Friday night.
The awards consist of nine categories and with sections such as ‘Owner and User Satisfaction’ and ‘Efficiency of
Operation and Maintenance’. The awards recognise the best projects in terms of investment and return for the client.
Along with V.nue, JASMAX projects scooped five other awards. This year’s NZIA Supreme Award winner AUT Business School
was the first recipient of the ‘Ministry for the Environment and Auckland City Council Urban Design Award’.
Andy Anderson, director in charge of award winning V.nue says that ‘The Vodafone brief was two fold. The client wanted a
building that reflected their aspirations of a transparent business. The developers wanted a design that would integrate
as part of a trilogy of buildings on the Fanshaw and Halsey streets site.’
V.nue shares the success of the adjacent JASMAX designed KPMG building as a former Property Council Supreme Award winner
2004.
The other successful JASMAX projects and their respective categories were, Vodafone V.nue and Centreport for New Zealand
Statistics – Excellence in The GIB Commercial Office Property Award; AUT Business School – Excellence in the Telecom NZ
Ltd Education and Arts Property Award; Clendon Community Centre and Library – Merit in the Telecom NZ Ltd Education and
Arts Property Award; and Baywave TECT Aquatic Centre – Merit in the Holmes Consulting Tourism and Leisure Property
Award.
On receiving the first award to be handed out in the urban design category JASMAX Director, Euan Mac Keller stated,
‘this award is a tribute to AUT’s commitment to contributing to the continual improvement of the built environment of
Auckland City. Architecturally the building is enjoyed from within the city and the city is enjoyed from within the
building.’
JASMAX Managing director Greg Boyden says receiving the six awards topped off a very successful year for JASMAX.
“These awards are more about the client and the team rather than the architects. None of these awards would have been
possible without the impressive amount of collaboration in each project.
‘Our architects merely added form to the client’s vision. The great client/architect relationship is obvious in the
amount of clients that turned up to help us celebrate on the night.’
