Record Month and Hot Auction Action For Largest Harcourts Office
For Release: 22 June 2006
May has proven to be a record breaker for both Harcourts’ largest single office (Christchurch City) as well as the franchise group it is part of (Harcourts Grenadier group) in its 370 plus Australasian network of offices.
Director of Harcourts Grenadier, Robert McCormack confirmed that the sales team in their group of seven Christchurch offices (Christchurch City, Avonhead, Avonside, Ferrymead, Beckenham, Cashmere and Sumner) wrote property sales contracts worth just on $92 million for May, (an average of just under $3 million per day) with the Christchurch City office alone writing property sales contracts worth $50 million (an average of just on $1.6 million per day).
Part of those record figures have been as a result of consistent confident auction buying activity in recent weeks including a 100 percent ‘sold under the hammer’ for two weeks in June with the overall June auction results to date at 12 out of 14 properties sold under the hammer. The last two weeks of May saw similar activity in the auction rooms.
Mr McCormack noted that his offices reported the confidence being shown by buyers was “across the board on a full range of properties types”, with the key to success being well-informed property sellers understanding the current market and using high profile marketing campaigns, such as auction, to ensure as many potential buyers as possible were being reached.
Harcourts Grenadier has invested heavily in its auction and office facilities, with a new state of the art auction room re-opening last year providing upmarket hi-tech facilities for those attending, as well as broadcasting auctions live on the Internet for international viewing.
