Turners Turns To Technology
Turners Auctions has appointed a new General Manager of Marketing with a brief to transform the way Turners interacts with its customers.
Turners’ new General Manager, Marketing, Todd Hunter said his main focus will be to integrate Turners’ technology platform further into the auction business from a process and customer service point of view.
“We have an enormous opportunity to develop our online capabilities and provide our customers with useful, up-to-date information, said Mr Hunter.
In January, Turners launched Turners Live, a real-time online auction service allowing people to place bids from computers in competition with live bidders.
Mr Hunter said that Turners Live would be introduced across all Turners sites in New Zealand over the coming months and would radically change the online auction market.
“This is real-time bidding in real-time auctions which no other public auction offers in New Zealand,” said Mr Hunter.
Mr Hunter said one of the most important features of the auction service is to provide customers with as much relevant information as possible.
“We have a massive asset in the form of all the information we hold and that can be made more accessible through our online services,” said Mr Hunter.
“We aim to make it much easier for our customers to get the information they want and really help people in the buying process,” he said.
Before joining Turners, Mr Hunter was Marketing Manager at New Zealand Post and has also worked for Microsoft New Zealand. At Microsoft, he was responsible for the marketing of Desktop Software Products, which produced almost half of Microsoft New Zealand’s revenue at the time.
Turners Auctions CEO Graham Roberts said Mr Hunter’s appointment reflects a new direction for the company.
“While our traditional auctions remain the same we are continually looking for ways to use technology to improve the way we deliver our services,” he said.
