The brief called for students to produce a mainstream retail newspaper ad campaign in a creative way, and the winner
receives tickets to a special creative function.
A second optional brief gave students the chance to win $500 by producing a tactical newspaper ad within 48 hours. The
winner was Alice Lee of Axis Adschool whose compelling ad cleverly tied together the World Cup with Amnesty
International Stop Violence Against Women.
This year’s judges included Stu Yorston (General Manager of Marketing, The Warehouse), Kim Ellison (Creative Director
Retail, Ogilvy), Vaughn Davis (Creative Director Retail, Y), Chris Swift (Deputy Creative Director, TBWA/Whybin) and Tony Bradbourne (Senior Creative).
The high standard of work and fresh thinking toward retail advertising impressed the judges, with them agreeing that
they would run some of the work tomorrow.
All finalists along with the winning work will be sponsored into the Singapore Crowbar Awards and Australasian Young Gun
Awards. All work will be displayed at the Axis Awards in the foyer of Sky City on June 30 th .
Winning entries will also be available shortly for viewing on See... www.nabs.co.nz .
