New Zealand made laptop bags that aren’t ‘boring black’.
WAS recycled billboard bags provide a unique, New Zealand made, alternative to the standard issue black laptop bag.
Auckland, New Zealand – June 20, 2006 – Forget the standard run-of-the-mill black laptop bag, WAS, an Auckland based company that makes fashion bags from recycled billboards, has released a range of laptop bags that stand out from the crowd.
“Each bag is chosen individually by our design team, they are then hand cut, washed, pressed, sewn, photographed and put online for sale” says Glenda Keegan, owner of WAS. “The bags are hand made in New Zealand, and every bag is different. Some of the designs are pretty out-there, we found that people want designs that are colourful and distinctive, they want something that really stands out. We have a laptop bag with a big eyeball on it, that sort of bag sells fast; it is a real talking point.”
The WAS “Not-Boring-Black”laptop bag is a wear over the shoulder bag and fits a 15+ inch laptop, they are lined and have internal pockets for mouse, power adapter & accessories. The bags are also multifunctional due to the internal padding being removable, thus enabling your WAS laptop bag to be used as a stylish bag for any other purpose. The heavy duty shoulder strap is made from seatbelt material making it extremely strong and durable.
“Billboard material is the ideal textile for this application, it is extremely tough, UV resistant, waterproof and very hard wearing. These bags last and can take the punishment.” Glenda says “and as an added bonus we are doing our bit for the environment by recycling a material that would ordinarily end up in the tip.”
Other recycled billboard bags in the WAS range include a big rivet satchel, clutch bag and soon to be released mini satchel. “We have experimented with many recycled billboard products; including nappy bags, surfboard travel bags, DJ record bags and document wallets. We are currently focusing on laptop bags as there is nothing on the market that compares for uniqueness, style and toughness. Let’s face it, who really wants a boring black laptop bag.”
WAS has stockists in Auckland, Mt Maunganui, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Wellington and Queenstown, or you can purchase bags from our online shop at www.was.co.nz.
