Yellow Pages® Maps now available on internet
White Pages® and internet Yellow Pages
From today Kiwis can get maps and directions online at www.yellowpages.co.nz and through www.whitepages.co.nz.
The new map service, from local search leader Yellow Pages®, enables people to search for maps for any street or place, and also request routing information from any location to any other New Zealand location.
Searchable maps follows on from Yellow Pages' December launch of business maps, where people looking up a business on internet Yellow Pages are offered a map of the business's location and routing information.
"Maps is another step towards our goal of being New Zealanders' preferred go-to source of everyday information about people, businesses and places," says Dudley Enoka, General Manager, Yellow Pages. "Our aim is to make sure Kiwis can get the information they want, wherever they are, in any way they want."
Here's how it works. Let's say you're going to a friend's housewarming. You can check your friend's new address on internet White Pages®, you can then use Yellow Pages Maps to find a map of your friend's new address and suburb. And you can use it to get driving directions from where you live to where they live. You can even email all this information to another friend, who plans to meet you there.
"We think people will find searchable maps for streets and places convenient because so many people use internet Yellow Pages and internet White Pages already," says Dudley.
www.yellowpages.co.nz and www.whitepages.co.nz are popular websites for people looking for addresses, phone numbers and contact details for people, businesses and places in New Zealand. Internet Yellow Pages receives approximately 100,000 unique visitors every week and internet White Pages receives approximately 130,000 unique visitors every week.
The company expects to rollout other products and services over the next year.
"We're delighted at the excellent usage our business maps have already received. In the six months since we launched business maps, we have served over two million maps," says Dudley.
"Yellow Pages is all about making it easier for you to find what you are looking for, and with maps we've taken this quite literally," adds Dudley. "We believe our maps and directions services will make it easier for locals, businesses and visitors in New Zealand to reach the people, businesses and places they want to find."
International experience with other Yellow Pages providers shows that maps and directions are greatly valued. In many countries it has become the third largest usage area on the site, after the home page and search results page.*
