Sofitel Queenstown Welcomes Returning South Islanders
South Islanders Amber Murrell and Amy Coleman are making a welcome return to New Zealand’s premier tourist destination
to fill two key sales and marketing positions at the five-star Sofitel Queenstown.
Experienced hospitality professional Amber Murrell will join the team next month to fill the Sales and Marketing role
for one year, as Mandy Pahl, Director of Sales and Marketing, heads off on maternity leave.
Amber, who originally hails from the Catlins, says she’s looking forward to taking up the helm on Monday July 3.
“This is a bit of a dream position and this type of role, in such a prestigious hotel, is very hard to come by,” said
Amber.
Amber has traveled extensively, gaining marketing and hospitality experience from recent roles including Olympic
Hospitality at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, as a hotel manager during the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, and other
VIP hospitality and customer services roles.
She was Project Manager of Events for an Auckland travel company for two years, and has a strong professional foundation
with her Marketing Management Diploma from Sydney’s Northern Institute of TAFE.
Queenstown local Amy Coleman returned to the resort last month after an eight year absence to take on the role of
Sofitel Queenstown Sales and Marketing Coordinator.
Amy, who has a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and Marketing Management from the University of Otago,
will work closely with Amber. No stranger to a fast-paced working environment, Amy has worked in real estate for two and
a half years. Other roles have given her extensive event management, marketing and sales experience.
Sofitel General Manager, Mark Wilkinson, said he’s delighted to welcome two more New Zealander’s into the Sofitel
Queenstown team.
“It’s been a busy and very rewarding past few months and as a team we’re looking forward to continuing the positive
momentum Sofitel is making across all markets.”
