Vintage boots inspired by rural Canterbury roots
It’s a match made in heaven. Kiwi icons – the ugg boot, the tweed suit and the homespun jersey – brought together in a boots that are pure vintage style without sacrificing any ugg snugness. It’s a fashionable collision along the lines of Swanndri by Karen Walker.
Acca Lane boots, manufactured by Lapco in Christchurch, have taken vintage wool suits and classic woollen knits and re-interpreted them into a winter wool-lined boot.
Vintage boots
Vintage wool suits are lovingly crafted into stylish vintage boots that reflect New Zealand’s wool manufacturing heritage and evoke a retro charm. Suits are selected for their quality, patterns and detailing. Each pair of boots is hand cut to bring out the charm of the original suit and make best use of features like pockets, button holes, belt loops, stitching and pleats. This is recycling at its best. Each pair is unique.
Snowflake
Inspired by the cosy jumpers mum used to knit, the Snowflake boot is made of pure New Zealand wool, knitted in Christchurch into a snowflake pattern. The wool-lined boots are so retro-cute and cosy, you’ll never want to take them off.
Acca Lane by Lapco
Leather Associated Products Company Limited (LAPCO) is a family owned and operated leather trader and manufacturer. The family culture and caring environment at Lapco carries over into the care and attention they give to their products.
Manager Ben Acland was raised on a Canterbury high country sheep station, where his first fashion items included mum’s hand-knitted booties and jumpsuits.
The wool connection runs deep in the Acland family –Ben’s grandfather was chairman of the NZ Wool Board from 1960-1972.
Though Ben is now designing boots for the trendy markets of Ponsonby and Soho, he hasn’t forgotten his roots. And it’s with great pride that he mines through the best of New Zealand’s apparel history to create modern products that strike a vintage chord.
