New Contact Centre opens in Kapiti
TelstraClear’s new contact centre was opened today by Kapiti Coast District Mayor Alan Milne.
The multi-million dollar contact centre at Paraparaumu will house up to 150 TelstraClear staff, mainly in contact centre roles.
It is TelstraClear’s third contact centre, with the others based in Auckland and Christchurch, and reflects TelstraClear’s commitment to customers nationwide.
TelstraClear Chief Executive Dr Allan Freeth says the Kapiti Coast has leading infrastructure and a strong pool of talent and skills, making Kapiti the ideal location for the state-of-the-art contact centre.
“This investment provides further evidence of our commitment to customers throughout New Zealand who buy phone line, tolls, Internet and television services from TelstraClear.”
“We have been part of Kapiti for more than 10 years, with one of our predecessor companies, Kapiti Cable, providing a competitive TV offering, and we intend to continue our role as a leading telecommunications provider and employer in the area,” he says.
Mayor Alan Milne says the company’s commitment to the area is highlighted by the large-scale investment, and a signal of strong business confidence in the district.
“TelstraClear’s contact centre is an important investment in both the Kapiti District’s economy and its people. TelstraClear is known as an employer of choice, one to hire locally and invest in their staff. This is all great news for the Kapiti Coast.”
Dr Freeth said the contact centre, located in the Kapiti Commercial Park in Ihakara Street, will deal primarily with TelstraClear’s help desk calls from around the country, using leading edge technology.
“We’ve installed the latest in Internet protocol and voice recognition technology at the contact centre to provide our customers with a faster and more efficient service,” he says.
Four kilometres of fibre optic cable has been pushed through existing ducts to connect the contact centre to TelstraClear's IP network at the Paraparaumu telephone exchange.
TelstraClear’s staff based at the call centre at the Unisys Data Centre in Paraparaumu have moved into the new building, while some local Kapiti staff working at TelstraClear’s Wellington office have relocated to the new space.
