WELLA YPS recognises and rewards young hairstylists who demonstrate excellence and exhibit a strong affinity with fashion. This national competition, performed live on stage in front of a panel of prominent judges, measures hair styling in 4 categories: cut, colour, styling and total look.
Winners from 12 regions will come together in Auckland to compete on a national platform, at the grand final on Saturday 17th June, 2006.
This grand event celebrating young Kiwi talent will also feature a special guest performance from local band stellar*. Who have a new album due out in July.
WELLA’S marketing manager, Claire Johnston says “ Stylists need to have not only the hairdressing skills to perform a precise cut, technically excellent colour work and accurate styling technique, but also demonstrate to the judging panel an appreciation and understanding of today’s fashion scene.”
The 2005 WELLA YPS will include a variety of prestigious awards including Colour Creativity Award, Fashion Focus Award, “Highly Commended” and the Overall Winner.
The WELLA YPS 2005 National Final winner will receive a $5,000 prize package of travel and accommodation to London, including 1 week’s training at the prestigious Vidal Sassoon Academy. Plus, the YPS trophy.
