Nominations open for Auckland Top Shop 2006
The Auckland Top Shop 2006 competition is now open for nominations. Consumers can nominate their Top Auckland Shop and go into the draw to win a $1,000 shopping spree.
The Auckland Top Shop competition is run by New Zealand Retailers Association. Northern Regional Manager Russell Sinclair says the competition is about celebrating excellence in the retail sector. "This really is a great opportunity for customers to give recognition back to their favourite stores and say thank you. Thank you for remembering how I like my coffee, thank you for creating a lovely store, thank you for having such a great selection of wines and being so knowledgeable!"
"Retailers that go that extra mile can often be taken for granted, but they are something special and recognising that sets a benchmark for all retailers and helps to raise the standard of shopping experiences across the board," he says.
The seven categories cover most retail store's business, from food to footwear, health to homeware and specialty stores for those that do not fit into a category.
The Overall Top Shop Winner, sponsored by Auckland Top Shop's principal sponsors, The New Zealand Herald and The Aucklander, is chosen from the seven category winners. The awards will be presented at a gala dinner at the SKYCITY Convention Centre on 1 November.
Five special awards will also be presented, the "Heart of the City" Service Award, Best Store in a Westfield Shopping Centre, Westfield Young Retailer of the Year, The Retail Hall of Fame and Exceptional Leadership in Retail.
In 2005 the Overall Award was presented to The French Art Shop in Ponsonby, a store the judges said was an Aladdin's Cave even for a non artist with knowledgeable staff delivering great service and that it had the X-factor.
To nominate their favourite store for the Auckland Top Shop Awards, and go in to win the $1,000 shopping spree customers need to fill out the nomination form in The Aucklander or The New Zealand Herald between 26 April and 30 July or fill out the online form at www.aucklandtopshop.co.nz
