Introducing io
io altitude simulation
io altitude simulators work by forcing the body to react as if at altitude. The result – boosted energy levels, feeling healthier, a stronger and fitter body.
Thinner air at altitude means it takes greatly increased effort just to breathe, let alone do anything else. That increased effort has proven beneficial effects.
the power of oxygen
Imagine harnessing that increased effort to enhance wellness? Imagine making the body achieve the benefits of working at altitude, wherever you are? io altitude simulation releases the ‘power of oxygen’ - the essential ‘fuel’ our bodies need to function efficiently from the inside out.
how io works
The io programme delivers ‘thinner’ air, via a mask, inducing beneficial stress in the body and causing it to react by producing a higher proportion of red blood cells. The more red blood cells you have, the more efficient your body becomes at transporting and utilising oxygen.
This reaction is caused by the body having to adjust to alternately breathing normal (sea level) air and high altitude (hypoxic) air every 5 minutes for an hour a day over a set number of days.
io’s unique, sophisticated and responsive delivery system ensures the body will become as efficient as possible at utilising available oxygen, whether for sporting fitness or increased strength and well-being.
the io programme is natural and drug-free
It’s a passive programme to rapidly strengthen the body, keep it fit and well, and offer relief from various conditions. The programme takes 50 hours over one year - one hour a day for 15 days, followed by one hour a day for a 5 day booster session every 6-8 weeks.
io clients should notice beneficial changes from as early as day 5. However, the full benefits are normally apparent within 5 -15 days of completing either an initial or a booster course.
all you have to do is breathe
Visit your local io centre, relax in a chair and read, listen to music or watch TV and breathe - leaving your body to do the work - then enjoy the results.
tried and tested
Altitude simulation is not new - making its benefits available to the general public is. Altitude simulators were first developed more than 40 years ago in the Russian aerospace medicine programme to train cosmonauts. Around the same time, scientists and sports trainers noticed the amazing results achieved by athletes from high altitude countries at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics (2,240m above sea level).
Since then, altitude training has become a regular part of many professional athletes’ training regimes. The science and technology behind high altitude training has continued to develop and is now available to the public at a local io centre.
where is io available?
io is headquartered in Queenstown, New Zealand. It has centres in Queenstown, Wellington NZ, Auckland NZ and Manchester England. An intensive development plan will see io centres open soon around the world.
