Sir Dryden Spring to Chair ANZ National Bank Limited following Dr Roderick Deane’s retirement
ANZ National Bank today announced that Sir Dryden Spring will become its Chairman following Dr Roderick Deane’s retirement from the ANZ National Bank Board on 16 June 2006.
Dr Deane’s decision to retire reflects a long-standing plan to reduce his corporate responsibilities. He has served as Chairman of ANZ National Bank (and before that ANZ Banking Group (New Zealand) Limited) since 1999. Dr Deane will also retire as a Director of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited effective 30 June.
Sir Dryden Spring has made a significant contribution to corporate and rural New Zealand throughout his career. This includes nine years as a director of The National Bank of New Zealand Limited until its merger with ANZ in 2003 and then as a Director of ANZ National Bank. In addition, Sir Dryden is currently a Director of Fletcher Building Limited, Sky City Entertainment Group Limited and Port of Tauranga Limited.
ANZ Chairman Mr Charles Goode said, “Roderick Deane has made a very substantial contribution to ANZ over many years. His contribution has always been enquiring and insightful. In recent times this has included a special contribution to the development of ANZ’s business in New Zealand.
