RSA Security Heralded “New Investment” Leader in Brisbane’s Business Investment Awards
RSA Security continues climb to the top of Australian business technology, securing its leadership position as innovative developers of IT security applications.
Brisbane, May 9, 2006 – At the ‘Brisbane On the World Stage’ Gala Awards event hosted by Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman, RSA Security, the expert in protecting online identities and digital assets, was awarded the Virgin Blue New Investment in Brisbane Award.
RSA Security CEO Art Coviello, currently in Australia to conduct high-level talks with government, business and financial institutions, accepted the award on behalf of RSA Security’s Development Solutions Centre in the city.
The inaugural Business Investment Awards were launched by Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman to acknowledge the achievements of Brisbane companies in local, national and global markets.
Paying tribute to the award-winning IT facility, Councillor Newman said, “RSA Security’s Brisbane laboratory is a major contributor in securing Brisbane’s growing reputation as a centre of IT innovation and business excellence.”
Since it was established in 1999, RSA Security’s software development laboratory in Brisbane has more than doubled its number of employees and assumed a global leadership role in the development of cryptographic applications for data security. The Company’s strategic consolidation and centralisation of product lines in 2005 will boost its Brisbane development centre to more than three times its current size.
“The city’s reputation for IT innovation –and the fact we have access to highly-trained Masters graduates of IT security programs from both Queensland University and the University of Technology, Queensland – enabled us to recruit highly-qualified staff ensuring we had the skill base to develop a wide range of security IT applications,” said Mr Coviello.
“Selecting Brisbane as a strategic location has enabled RSA Security to supply the growing international marketplace with products from a non-US source that are designed to be fully compatible with industry standards,” said Mr. Coviello.
“We’re proud to receive recognition for our Developer Solutions Group’s success,” Mr. Coviello continued. “Quality leadership, outstanding team work and sound business investment in an environment that promotes and supports business development are key elements in our recipe for success.”
Glenn Dickman, Director of Engineering for the Brisbane Development Centre said, “I’m extremely proud of the achievements of RSA’s Brisbane Development Centre and am grateful for the recognition that our software engineering team has received. We are highly motivated to continue our development of the BSAFE family of security toolkits and are particularly excited about our new suite of enterprise data protection products, including key management. Looking forward, we will continue to strive for excellence in our products and our software engineering approach.”
