Phillips Fox looking at developing alliance with one of the World’s largest law firms
LAWFUEL – Law news network - Talks are well advanced between DLA Piper Rudnick and Phillips Fox to formalise their relationship.
Operating across Asia, Europe and the US, DLA Piper have more than 3,100 lawyers in 59 offices in 22 countries.
The firms have already collaborated for some time and Phillips Fox, with offices in Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam and 185 partners and 1500 employees is one of the largest in Australasia.
"The Lawyer" newspaper in the UK reported that DLA Piper joint chief executive Nigel Knowles said the two firms had enjoyed a relationshiop for a long time Talks are well advanced between DLA Piper Rudnick and Australian-based Phillips Fox to formalise their relationship.
"It is highly likely that we will convert that into a DLA Group relationship such as those we have with firms in Egypt and South Africa.”
Phillip Fox's turnover is approximately AUD 200 (£85m).
DLA Piper has embarked on a series of alliances over the past year, predominantly with African firms. They include Zambia's Chibesakunda & Co, Matouk Bassiouny in Egypt and South African law firm Cliffe Dekker. JOHN BOWIE
