Kauri Cliffs Offers New Zealand’s Finest In Unique Weekend Package
An unforgettable weekend will be in store for golfers with a passion for fine wine and exquisite cuisine at Kauri Cliffs in July.
Guests for the weekend will enjoy an exclusive package including a golf tournament, tutored tasting of New Zealand’s finest wines led by Dr. Neil McCallum of Dry River, and the culinary delights of acclaimed New Zealand chef Peter Gordon.
Kauri Cliffs’ General Manager, Jay Robertson described the weekend as a one-off opportunity for food and wine connoisseurs.
“Rarely in the world is such an exciting package offered. The programme includes two nights’ accommodation at Kauri Cliffs, golf, premium wine tasting, a series of Peter Gordon’s culinary offerings, and a range of optional activities to interest the most discerning guests.”
The price for this uniquely New Zealand experience is NZ $3300.00 per couple. The weekend is limited to 50 guests.
On the first of two nights, a wine tasting function features “a regional comparison” between the award-winning New Zealand vineyards Te Awa located in the Hawkes Bay and Dry River in Martinborough. Internationally regarded as one of the world’s finest winemakers, Dr. Neil McCallum of Dry River and Lauraine Jacobs of the iconic industry publication Cuisine Magazine will host a tutored wine tasting. Chefs from both Kauri Cliffs and Peter Gordon’s “dine” will prepare the buffet dinner following the tasting.
While golfers are on the course on the second day in a “Food and Wine Golf Challenge”, non-golfers will attend a “Peter Gordon Cooking Demonstration” in the Owner’s Cottage at Kauri Cliffs. A Laurent Perrier Champagne Reception hosted by Euro Wines will begin the elegant evening, a prelude to a five-course gourmet degustation dinner by Gordon, with matched wines by Dry River.
The final highlight of the weekend will be the Peter Gordon Providores Sunday Champagne Brunch.
Peter Gordon said from London" I'll personally be having as good a time as the fifty lucky guests. Kauri Cliffs is absolutely stunning, as are Neil's and Te Awa's wines, so combining those with my 3 menus, ranging from rustic buffet through to 5 course degustation and a Providore’s brunch - plus a cooking demo, I'll make sure everyone is well fed. I look forward to personally meeting all of the guests in July. "
Dr. Neil McCallum added, "I'm looking forward to this celebration of what New Zealand does so well - scenery, wine, food and sport. Taking time out to enjoy all these should be compulsory for all kiwis and the opportunity to have it all in one weekend is a rare event."
During the course of the weekend, guests will also be invited to join guided tours to see the incredible 900-year-old Kauri tree, spectacular waterfall and several of the magnificent beaches the property has to offer.
Jay Robertson said the weekend was designed to showcase the best of New Zealand food, wine and golf in a world-class setting.
“We’re aiming at those people who love the very best New Zealand has to offer.
The weekend begins the afternoon of Friday, 28 July and concludes with brunch on Sunday, 30 July.
Said Mr Robertson: “We’ve put together my idea of a great New Zealand weekend. People will love it.”
